About Moncur Knitwear

Moncur Knitwear is all about colour! We offer an everchanging rainbow of knitted luxury accessories. 

I am Susan Moncur and I started my small business in 2020 even though I had a sketchbook full of ideas in the planning for many years before that! My creative studio overlooks the stunning landscape of Innerleithen in the Scottish Borders which provides a constant source of design inspiration with an abundance of rich colours, textures and patterns

I believe that people deal with people and it was important to me that all I believe in became my brand. I am a busy mum, teacher of fashion and a designer, with over twenty years industry design experience so I know quality and love beautiful textiles. I am also colourful and my ethos is to live my life with peace, love and kindness which is at the very essence of Moncur Knitwear.

     

All my luxury accessories are designed and made here in the beautiful Scottish Borders. I don’t like waste and every precious bit of cashmere yarn is used to create colourful, exclusive designs all made with love by people I know care about quality. The design that started it all was my signature Rainbow Poncho which I knitted to use up pre-consumer waste yarn. I enjoyed this process of using 'waste' to create a new, beautiful product and it means that the customer gets an exclusive, limited-edition design. I take quality over quantity everytime! 

Since that first Poncho design my colourful rainbows have expanded and now include a range of designs like hats, fingerless gloves and my popular Moncur Mittens.
